Teak is the material of choice for many of our reputable outdoor furniture brands, like Gloster, DEDON, Les Jardins, TUUCI and Ethimo. Teak is both dense and strong and retains its beauty.
Over time, teak wood will patina (change colour from golden brown to a silvery gray) from exposure to sunlight and air. It’s a natural process that takes 6 months to 2 years, depending on the location, and the elements. It’s our recommendation that you let your teak wood patina and simply clean once or twice a year (in Spring and Fall) with either water and mild soap or Teak Cleaner and soft cloth or sponge. All our premier outdoor brands have thoughtfully considered in their designs to have only selected mixed materials (like wicker, rope, aluminum) that will compliment teak as it patinas.
Teak wood furniture may also benefit from the occasional light sanding to remove any raised grain and restore a smooth finish. Under no circumstances should a power washer be used to clean teak as this will erode the soft surface and leave it rough to the touch.
If you wish to keep you teak looking as it did when you first brought it home, it should be sealed with Teak Sealer.
To keep your teak wood looking its best, cover teak furniture during the winter months with a protective cover or store it undercover to further protect it from the elements.
